Today on Lunchtime with my Gear VR I take a look at the game Protocol Zero. This game is a stealth shooter that overall is pretty cool! The one aspect I found to be very interesting in it was the fact that the developers used the neck model from the Oculus SDK to enable a sort of Pseudo Positional Tracking. By doing this they have given the players the ability to lean around corners which is really useful in a game of this style. The games graphics are clean and the sound is good as well. My only real complaint is with the teleportation movement style and snap turning that the developers chose for this one. I would have enjoyed playing it much more if they would have just given the option to turn on free movement with smooth turning. For only $5 just the feeling of having a bit of positional tracking in a Gear VR title makes this one a must have for my library! So if you don’t have this one I would recommend it.

You can grab a copy of it from the Oculus store.

Robbert As some of you may know, I have been suffering from the aftermath of a traffic accident, a severe case of COVID-19, and a transient ischemic attack (TIA). These events have taken a toll on my physical and mental well-being, and I can no longer keep up with the demands of running a VR website and channel. I want to thank you all for your support and feedback over the years. You have been an amazing community and I have enjoyed sharing my passion for VR and gaming with you. I hope you will continue to enjoy VR and explore its possibilities. I will leave the website and channel online for now, so you can still access the content I have created. However, I will not be posting any new blogs, videos, or news. I hope you understand and respect my choice.
